The Jackson R-2 School District has a storied history of excellence, and is an attractive feature for families looking to relocate to a progressive yet rural setting.

The District has a AAA classification. There are several elementary schools for grades K-4, one middle school for grades 5 and 6, one junior high school for grades 7 and 8 and the high school for grades 9-12. Enrollment is approximately 4,800.

The Jackson community also has parochial schools; St. Paul Lutheran School, Immaculate Conception Catholic School, Saxony Lutheran High School and Notre Dame Regional High School.

Post-secondary education is close as well, with Southeast Missouri State University only eight miles away.
